STROUDSBURG, Pa. — After more than a decade of running exclusively in shorts with at least a 10-inch inseam, Garrett Donahue finally felt comfortable enough to drop down to a 9-inch inseam after reviewing his photos from the recent Tannersville Trailblazin’ 10K.
Admitting he previously had no clue what inseam revealed about a runner’s character, Donahue vowed to better adhere to accepted running attire and etiquette both on and off the race course.
“I’ve been going down these Reddit r/running rabbit holes and I feel like I’ve got a new lease on life,” Donahue said while admiring his additional inch of thigh now visible. “It’s not about comfort or performance; it’s really just an aesthetics thing. I was looking at these photos of myself running and it suddenly hit me that my shorts were way too long. Like, they were practically touching parts of my kneecaps. How are other runners supposed to take me seriously like that?
Don’t get me wrong, I understand nothing’s worse than short shorts, but hell, I knew there had to be some kind of middle ground. That’s when I discovered the 9-inch inseam last week. My mental state has dramatically improved ever since.”
At press time, Donahue was reportedly considering hedging between the two lengths and moving up to a 9.5-inch inseam.
