Hi Dietmar!

Unfortunately I didn’t get to try the Glideride 3 before it was discontinued, but I don’t think you can go wrong with the Glideride Max. In more unfortunate news, ASICS doesn’t make the Superblast in my size 15 so I can’t test it.

I have tried the Magic Speed 4 and found it’s more propulsive and easier to pick up the pace in than the Glideride Max because of its carbon fiber plate. The Magic Speed is also considerably lighter at 8.6 oz/242 grams for a men’s size 9 compared to the Glideride Max’s 10.2 oz/287 grams. I didn’t end up reviewing the Magic Speed because I experienced bad heel chafing, so I couldn’t accumulate enough mileage to adequately test it. (I’m very fragile.)

Also, you may want to consider ASICS’ new Sonicblast (yes, yet another ASICS “blast” shoe). It’s a fun, bouncy pair with the new FF TURBO² foam and a pebax plate, for $180 – same price as the Magic Speed.

I am a huge fan of the Glideride 3 and currently using my last spare pair. Many said, the Glideride Max is not similar, I have just gone up the line and bought the Superblast 2. But the Superblast 2 feels so clunky and weird under the feet, it always takes some minutes to get used to it. It is good for longer runs but I cant pick up the pace like with my Glideride 3. So, I dont know if it’s really the plate or the stronger rocker, that makes the Glideride 3 so nice to run in. I am still thinking about getting the Glideride Max. It’s totally underrated as you mentioned. However, the Magic Speed 4 seems to be underrated as well and might be another option for my Glideride 3 replacement search.

I can understand where you're coming from, as the Nimbus is quite the bulky, stacked shoe, but it just suits my biomechanics really well. My feet feel pampered and extremely comfy without sacrificing pace. I'd agree it's best as an easy-day/recovery shoe, though.

I found the Nimbus 27 to be like running in sand. Slowed my workouts by at least 2 minutes or more. I have run the Nimbus series for years, but this one was a disaster for me.

I love this shoe. Feels soft but not as mushy as the nimbus. I personally like them over the nimbus 26 and 27 and the Novablast 5. Is a go to in easy and long runs.
